My family celebrates Thanksgiving in the following way. Every year we go over to someone on my dad’s side of the family’s house. This year we are having it at my aunt and uncle’s house. When we first get there we eat our big Thanksgiving lunch. We have a lot of different things including mashed potatoes, ham, green beans, rolls, and of corse turkey! After we eat our lunch we sing Christmas carols. The songs range from “Jingle Bells” to “Silent Night”. My dad’s side of the family doesn’t get together for Christmas so we have a gift exchange at Thanksgiving. After the carols we open our presents. Once we have opened all of the presents we just sort of hang out and around dinner time we start to head home. That is what my family does for Thanksgiving.

This trimester I really enjoyed Mr. Moore’s computer class. I learned a lot of new things about how to use a apple computer. For example, I learned that command c is copy, command v is paste, command t opens a new tab, and a bunch of other things. I also learned about how to use email. Before this class I never could send emails, but now I know how to and how to use email. The last major thing I learned was how to blog. When we first started blogging I thought it was really fun and I’m glad Mr. Moore let us do them. This trimester I really enjoyed this class and I wish I had it next trimester.

I read an article about how film makers are filming here in Grand Ledge. They are filming a remake of Red Dawn at our own Fitzgerald Park. I think that this is a great thing for Grand Ledge. It will provide publicity to our town and attract more visitors to our town. They in turn will help are economy by using and buying things in Grand Ledge. Also it may attract more movie- makers to come here. Plus once it is out in theatures people from Grand Ledge (including me) can say that that part of the movie was filmed in our town. I read a article today about how my school district, Grand Ledge Public Schools, is going bankrupt. They are planning to get rid of three schools and nearly 500 jobs. I disagree with what they are doing. Recently our school built a windmill, new computers, a parking lot, and redid the gym. They should not have built all those unnecessary items when the schools were already millions of dollars in debt. Now after they have bought all these things they have to cut 500 jobs and close three schools. We had a perfectly affective gym, computers, and parking lot and we did not need a windmill what so ever. Now many people are going to lose their jobs because of bad decisions. What do you think? I think that making kids wear uniforms to school is a bad idea. I think this because kids should be able to where what they want and not be told what to wear. It is called freedom of expression and it is protected by the first amendment. I understand why some schools have uniforms, to make everyone equal, but who cares what you wear. As long as kids wear respectable clothes, schools should not need uniforms. Also who has to pay for the uniforms? The parents. In these tough economic times schools are making parents pay for clothes, that their kids probably don’t want to wear , to go to school. I just don’t think that is right. That is why I don’t think schools should have uniforms.

I picked this image (at the bottom) because I like to run long distances. Just this last fall I ran cross country at my school. At most of our meets we ran two miles. I think I did pretty good for my first time doing cross country. Other than running cross country I also ran track track in the summer through the city. At track I mainly did the mile and two mile events. I am planning to do track through the school in spring. Between the two I think cross country is more fun because the seenery is really nice where at track it is just black track and stands. I really enjoy running because I’m pretty good at it and I think running is fun. I plan to do both cross country and track next year!

If I was president of the United States this is what I would do. First of all I would commision several new nuclear plants to be built. I would do that because nuclear power plants produce a lot of power. A lot more power than a coal plant would ever produce. Plus a nuclear power does not produce any green house gases making them envirermenitly friendly. To most peoples surprise they are also very safe. No nuclear power plant has ever melted down, exploded, or any thing like that in the U.S. Also nuclear power plants would produce a lot of new jobs to help the economy out a lot. The other major thing I wold do would be to take our solders out of Iraq. I would do that because I don’t think we should have been over in Iraq in the first place. That is what I would do if I was the president of the U.S.A.

I have enjoyed my life at middle school this year and last year. One of the challenges I’ve been faced with in middle school is all the homework I get some nights. I sometimes up to two hours of homework a night! One mistake I learned from is to always pay close attention when a teacher gives a lecture. That happened last year when our teacher gave us a very difficult quiz on a lecture he gave us the day before that many people hadn’t paid close attention to. I have learned a lot in middle school. I have learned everything from rocks to graphing here. I have a lot of friends and that makes middle school a lot more fun. I think middle school is a lot better than elementary school and I can’t wait for the rest of the year and next year!

When I grow up I want to be an Endocrinologist. An Endocrinologist is someone who studies the endocrine system in the body. The endocrine system is a system in your body that produces hormones. I first wanted to be an endocrinologist because they specialize in diabetes which I have. Also when I grow up I want to work at Sparrow Hospital because it is close to where I live. I want to head the endocrinologist department there. That is what I want to do when I grow up. Link.
